PERINTON YOUTH HOCKEY SET TO BECOME ROCHESTER JUNIOR AMERICANS NEXT SEASON
PYH announces partnership with Rochester Americans for the launch of the Jr. Amerks youth organization
(Rochester, NY) Perinton Youth Hockey (PYH), in conjunction with the Rochester Americans, announced today the formation of the Rochester Junior Americans youth hockey organization.
Set to begin play in the 2020-21 season, all youth hockey programming offered under the current PYH organization, including 8U-18U (mites-midgets) at the AAA and AA levels as well as all affiliated house teams, will shift to the Jr. Amerks brand. Additionally, PYH will effectively adopt the Rochester Junior Americans name with the program offering an enhanced level of competition for local players ages six to 18. The organization will house its operations at the Rochester Ice Center, located at 80 Lyndon Road in Fairport.
“The Amerks have a rich and meaningful history here in Rochester, and we’re proud to join the tradition,” said Robyn MacBride, president of Perinton Youth Hockey. “Our organizations are like-minded, both dedicated to the development of our players while focused on making hockey a fun and memorable experience for everyone whether they’re on the ice or in the stands. Next season is a great new beginning for our organization, and we can’t wait for what’s to come.”
“We’re incredibly excited to partner with Perinton Youth Hockey and launch the new Jr. Amerks program next season,” said Amerks Vice President of Business Operations Rob Minter. “This is a tremendous opportunity not only for us to aid in the efforts of introducing the game of hockey to a wider audience but allows us as an organization to deepen our footprint in the local youth hockey community. We look forward to working together with Perinton Youth Hockey on growing the game under the Amerks brand.”
Today’s announcement comes just weeks after the appointment of Francois Methot as Hockey General Manager for Perinton Youth Hockey. Methot, who played five seasons with the Amerks during his 17-year pro playing career, has been instrumental in spearheading all areas of operations, including driving the efforts of PYH becoming the premier development organization in the region. In addition to overseeing skill and player development for all PYH players, Methot continues to remain a fixture in the coaching scene with PYH’s Rochester Monarchs AAA program, guiding the 14U team to a run for the national championship in 2018.
Current Amerks defenseman Nathan Paetsch also serves as a coach for the Monarchs program.
Tryouts for the upcoming Jr. Amerks inaugural season for the 9U-12U AAA and AA programs will take place on Tuesday, Mar. 24, Wednesday, Mar. 25 and Thursday, Mar. 26. Tryouts for the 13U-18U teams are scheduled for Tuesday, Apr. 7, Wednesday, Apr. 8 and Thursday, Apr. 9. All sessions will be held at the Rochester Ice Center.
PYH is the only local youth hockey organization recognized by The Rochester Americans and Rochester Hockey LLC to use the Jr. Americans and Rochester Americans trademarks.
