11U AAA | 2010

Our players will have a complete travel hockey experience and compete against elite level competition. Our primary goal is to create a fun and competitive environment where every player can develop their skills and a passion for the game. Our programming is highly focused on player development so that each player is equipped with the skills necessary to advance and excel at the next level. 

The season structure consists of:

  • 40-50 games including 3-5 tournaments
  • 3 practices per week including weekly advanced skill development sessions
  • Off-ice sports performance training sessions throughout the season
  • Goaltending skills clinics throughout the season
  • Team building and community service events

Head Coach Nathan Paetsch

Former AHL Rochester American defenseman Nathan Paetsch is returning as head coach for the 2010 birth year team in the 2021-22 season. Coach Paetsch has an extensive hockey background, including 15 years of professional hockey and 160 games in the NHL with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres. In 2016, Coach Paetsch led the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins to a Calder Cup championship as captain. He ranks among the top scoring defensemen in Rochester Americans history and has played in more than 100 Calder Cup playoff games in the American Hockey League.

Coach Paetsch is also an instructor with the Rochester Ice Center Hockey Academy where he leads the Nathan Paetsch School of Defensemen. He offers clinics and private lessons to help defensemen develop their skills. A native of LeRoy, Saskatchewan, Coach Paetsch now resides in Spencerport with his family.

 

Coach Francois Methot

Francois Methot is Hockey General Manager for the Rochester Jr. Americans and has been an integral part of our program as the Director of AAA Hockey for almost six years. He's coached several AAA teams during his time, and led the 14U AAA team to a run for the national championship in 2018. Methot is a beloved skills coach to many players in Rochester and across the region. Players of all ages, from mites to college and professional hockey teams, including the Nashville Predators, work with him to develop their hockey skills.


A native of Montreal, Quebec, Methot was a 3rd round NHL draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 1996 out of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Methot spent the the first five seasons of his professional career with the Rochester Americans (AHL) playing in 334 regular season games with the club and another 39 Calder Cup playoff contests. After a season with the Portland Pirates in the AHL, Methot moved on to a very successful career in Europe until he retired from playing professionally.

Q: How are teams selected?

A: All our teams conduct open tryouts and final roster selections are determined by the coaching staff and members of our Hockey Development Group.

 

Q: Where do Jr. Amerks team skate?

A: The Rochester Ice Center is our home rink, however our teams utilize Paul Louis Arena, Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex, and Genesee Valley.

 

Q: What do you mean by "player-focused" development philosophy?
A: The vast majority of our players are between the ages of 5-15 which is an exciting and important time for their overall athletic development. Our program is designed around skill development so that our players can be successful and hopefully play the game for a really long time.  Learn more about our Player Development Program.
 

Q: How often does the team practice?

A: Our travel teams practice 2-3 times per week depending upon age group and skill level. Our AAA teams have three skates per week including a dedicated advanced skill development session plus two additional team practices. Additionally all our players have off-ice training sessions at Next Level Strength and Conditioning.

 

Q: How many players are on a team?

A: Most of our travel teams have 14-20 players per team. The younger age groups typically have 14-16 while older age groups have 16-20.

A: Yes, we partner with Janosz School of Goaltending to host regular goalie clinics throughout the season at no additional cost to your players. Click here to see a clinic in action.
