Q: What is the best age to get started?

A: The program is designed for children ages 4-6. We divide the players into two groups:

  1. Beginners - Children with no hockey experience. This tends to be the 4 and 5 year old children.
  2. Intermediates - Children who've previously participated in the Beginners group or children with previous hockey experience. This tends to be the 6 year old children or 7-8 year olds that just started hockey.

Q: Can 7 or 8 year old children participate in the program?

A: Yes. Children who are 7 or 8 years old with no previous hockey experience can join the program, however if a 7-8 old player has previous hockey experience they should be playing in our 8 and Under Mite Program.

Q: Where do kids get dressed?

A: There are locker rooms at Rochester Ice Center that the kids can use.  Digital signage in the RIC Lobby will direct you to the specific locker room. Some kids prefer to get partially dressed at home so that when they arrive at the rink they only need to put on the skates, helmet, and gloves.
